Cosy Classics

When we decided to buy a VW campervan, we were of course daunted by our lack of knowledge... The last thing we needed was to be sold a pup and it delayed the process for us incredibly.

Previous car buying experiences have left me suspiscious, even of those “check out services” you can get, I had one of those check out my first car, an Austin, and had nothing but serious trouble with it from the minute I drove it away, it turned out to be a “cut and shut” in the end. Then we came across Cosy Classics and our problems were solved.

Michael offers a great service, he’ll find you a good van, restore it – two choices full restoration or part – and, the most important bit, guarantee it for one year. This is what sinched the deal for us, and we have found it to be no swizz. Michael really cares about his vans, and so when our battery had an issue two months in, he was genuinely concerned and fixed the problem. He not only fixed it, but put another part in to ensure we would not have the problem again. Not that the problem was negligence on the part of Cosy Classics either, there was a switch that the previous owner has installed for fog lights on the bull bars it had on at that time, and I had kept flicking it on, wondering what it was for!

Then, when we told him about our trip, he offered to tune up the van for us before we went, and he gave us the parts most likely to be needed should we find ourselves in strife! Where do you get service like that?! On this trip alone we have needed advice from Michael three or four times and he has always been happy to help.

Driving a forty year old bus is not for the faint hearted, and the little quirks and quacks come with the territory, but for the novices like us, having Cosy Classics there if we need advice is brilliant. So for all of you out there, who are considering getting a vw bus but daunted by the prospect – Cosy Classics is the only way to go!

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for this advice. I am seriously considering fast-tracking our quest to own a van, and get rid of our New Beetle. Only problem is that I would then have to use the van for my daily commute (only 4 miles each way).

Wonder if Cosy Classics do trade ins?

they do! 4 miles a day would be nothing! the only prob with it being your only car is some car parks are funny about campervans! handy in traffic jams though.. anyone for tea?
